Ok for the past few week my fingertips especially my fingerprints have been tender with sharp pains sometimes. I know its not arthritis any ideas

are you diabetic? do you have any cardiac history? do you have any neurological issues? Have you taken any new medication/drugs, prescribed, over the counter or illegal narcotics? have you touched or used any chemicals?

There are thousands of things that could explain numbness/tingling in the finger tips, without more information (often confidential, how much are you really going to tell us) and without visually being able to assess and perform labwork theres very little we can do to help.

I'm not a doctor, but I work in the healthcare field, in both the hospital and pre-hospital setting. The worse thing besides ignorance is the web-md"ers" don't be one of them, if it was really that easy, why would people still go to medical school? Go see a doctor.

I don't know, is blood circulating to your fingers properly? That sounds weird, I think it just may be from typing too much. Press down on the keyboard a little easier. Stop hammering on it.

For me it's because my right shoulder is falling apart. Went to the dr. for the first time in my adult life on Wednesday and she literally says to me as I'm taking my shirt off 'Uh, that shouldn't do that, that's kind of gross' as my shoulder subluxed. I start PT next week to see if i can avoid surgery...

its caused by damage or disease of nerves, the symptom you have is called "paresthesias." could be...
nerve damage,multiple sclerosis,cervical sponylosis, peripheral vascular disease, alcoholic neuropathy, guillane-barre syndrome, SACD, frostbite, and leprosy are most severe could be carpal tunnel chronic inflammatory demyelinating polyneuropathy....if its in the nails it could be dermatomyositis or back problems,.... among some things go to your local doc right now to rule out any serious stuff. maybe you have halm-munk syndrome haha you'd know it though no one would shake your hand....good luck

Go to a doctor, but my guess is carpel tunnel causing nerve damage which causes the pain. You said arthritis, but you may also have carpel tunnel first which left untreated could cause arthritis to build in the joints.

I'm no doctor but I did stay in a Holiday Inn Express a few weeks ago.
