Any cigar smokers?

My best friends smokes cigars, i don't nor have I ever and know nothing about them. He lives in San Diego and I'm in Georgia so we don't visit but once every few years. He's having his first baby in a couple months and I want to send him two cigars for him to enjoy with one of his friends out there after the baby is born.

The problem is I don't know what type of cigar to buy. I don't want to do a lot of research, i would prefer to take someones advice. I'd also like to have some ideas prior to going to the cigar shop as I don't ever trust salesman 100%.

I like Primo Del Rey. Got a budget in mind? or, maybe some of his preferences?

I actually don't have contact info for his wife, i'm going to try and reach her on their home phone during his working hours to ask.

Without that information i'd say my budget is $50. So i'm thinking either 1 or 2 cigars totaling $50, or if a decent box (pack, whatever) of them can be had for $50 that is another alternative.

There are so many cigars out there now a days and people have so many different opinions. I would just go to your local tobacco shop and ask what they have. For $50 you can easily get 5-6 cigars.

Ask your local arab cigar shop dude they always know their stuff. They got me hooked on Kahlua Torpedo's $6 and the sweetest cigars I've ever smoked.

Oliva's are good. Man, I had a C.A.O. Cameroon that was about the best smoke I've had about a month ago. My go to is Rocky Patel Vintage 1990. Then again, I like really dark cigars, so you need to find out what you friend likes, he may be a lighter kind of guy.

I love Davidoff or Cohiba but when my wife puts me on a budget, I buy Baccarat.

Swishers Sweets and Black & Milds are fun to smoke, but they are not really much of a celebration cigar. Acids are cool too as they have a pretty large variety if you can find the right store. Along the lines of 'having a baby' cigar, you cant really go wrong with a good Cohiba, Arturo Fuente, Romeo y Julieta or Partaga. Also H. Upmans are nice, my dads favorite.

People have their own tastes for cigars...it s probably best to do as others have suggested and figure out what he likes. As for me my favorite brands are C.A.O. and Padron

I thought he was sending them to a friend

Really a $5 stick is a pretty good smoke. Anything above $10-$12 is really good. More than that is just burning money.
