Alternate life paths

So, if i had learned to play guitar or banjo or mandolin when i was in HS like all my friends did i could now be doing this:

The Worst Pirate Song:

Pretty on the Inside:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K6McOsKyFF0

Two of the guys in the band i grew up with, one is one of my best friends and i lived with him for about 5 years (that would be the long haired bassist). They play music they love, tour all over the east coast and the Celtic Fling they just played had thousands of people there just to see them. I don't regret anything in my life, but i know exactly where my alternative life would be. And i realize their lives aren't perfect, but they are having a hell of a good time.

ok, I was wrong...I think I was having a reno 911 moment where they go to the celtic fair.

It is cool though to think where you could have ended up, I know for a fact that the path I chose was the right one, because of the 7 of us who all hung out and were really close, two of us moved away and joined the military, me the AF and him the Navy...we are the only two left alive. All were killed in some sort of drug or dui related incident.

Well you could always get in touch with them and take a month off and tour with them, and just be a roadie

Oh, i talk to them every couple of days, no worries there. I'd love to take time off, but the kid prevents! You'd think a 3month old would have learned to take care of him self, but nooooooo! It's all 'grunt coo gurgle' which translates into 'i can't even change my diaper, what do you mean get a job?'

Seriously, i'm happy with my life, but it's interesting to know exactly where i could be if i had made different choices when i was 14, ya know?

I have thought similarly before, especially wishing I would have gone to college straight out of high school instead of at 30 yrs old. But, I also think of all the things in my life that I love (wife, daughters), now, and that they would be missing if I had taken a different path.

Those hotties in the pic are definitely pretty on the outside kinda girls, me like. I like their music.

Mine is sort of like 10achik, the two friends that joined the service are doing good the ones that stayed home are dead or are enjoying an extended stay in jail. Pretty happy to be where I am.

I started college the summer right after high school graduation. all my friends moved out and got jobs. for years and years I heard how i was stupid and wasting my time, still at home, still studying, telling me how I was stupid. I took all the hits. then after I got my BFA in graphics I was two classes away from a second BFA in art history when my wife (Girlfriend at the time) had to change schools and we needed money. I landed a sweet art director positon and was making really good cash. so the first friday i got my first full check I went and hung out with the friends who rode me and were stilll working in bars, waiting tables, selling crap over the phone and showed them my new paycheck and said look who was really wasting their time. from that day to this day I have not heard from them. I can't say I always made the correct decisions, but I sure did make enough right ones to have a great life!
