Alabama is DOOMED.
I know a lot of people have a negative opinion of Alabama, but it really isn't a bad place. Racism isn't as bad as the media wants you to believe, we don't hang people any more and most of us have shoes, electricity and running water. But that will all be meaningless soon. Why, you ask?
Roy Moore is going to be our next Governor. This man is crazy and dangerous. What's worse is that no one of any political importance is willing to say it publicly. Behind closed doors and off the record they'll admit that the guy is a psychopath. When the cameras are on they stand behind him and smile. To keep him from becoming Governor we're going to have to have his opponent point him out as the nutjob that he is. Governor Riley is going to have to publicly point out just how insane this man really is. Otherwise, we're screwed. Not only will gay marriage be unconstitutional, but gays will be actively sought out and arrested for breaking God's Law. Slavery will most likely be brought back with a new name, something like "Alabama Plan for Full Minority Employment." I'm serious here. Roy Moore is a total fruit loop.

Moore is going to be your governor!?!?!?!??!?!? Please tell me you are pulling my leg. I'm so glad I don't live there.
OH -=-=-=-=, I'm so sorry to hear that ![]() can you move? heh... That guy is seriously messed up in the head and shouldn't be in office since he could barely deal with his judicial position accurately. He's one of those -=-=-=-=s that think there is only one religion when there are actually thousands (and not everyone believes in his religion, whom he thinks is 'the only one') and is very ignorant when it comes to being open minded and impartial.

WAR EAGLE Roy Moore will do a feeler campaign, find out he does not have the support and then not run for governor. He got a lot of coverage by media for his stunt, but not a lot of support from the populous. |

The guy can have any opinion he wants, the problem I have is that he was a Judge who constantly broke the law. Oh, and he claims God talks to him. Not in the sense that I'm sure most Christians talk to God, but in the "disembodied voice that tells him what to do" sorta way. As a judge he broke the law dozens of times, stating that God's law is superior to man's law. As a religious man, he's free to believe that. As a judge, he is there to uphold man's law and the Constitution. That is his job. When he makes rulings and takes actions that directly contradict the Constitution, I see a problem. When he spends every penny in his budget then blackmails the state for more money, I see a problem. When he wants a Constitutional amendment that takes away the rights of thousands of citizens, I see a problem. When he actively campaigns against removing racist language from our State Constitution, I see a problem.

well he isn't impartial, or open minded... he is very ignorant and biased because he's soooo caught up in his faith that he doesn't see that not everyone agrees with him...
I don't understand how that could be 'oxymoronic'. I'll bash a guys opinions because HE'S not being open minded. At least I realize there is more than just Christianity as a religion (unlike our holier than thou Moore, among others)... Roy Moore recently attended the 20th annual unregistered baptist fellowship, an anti government gathering held each October in Indianapolis, Ind. One of the speakers at this meeting, besides Moore and his exiled monument, was the "good" (and i use that term loosely) Rev. W.N. Otwell. Rev. Otwell is a segregationist who once told a reporter that whites are superior to blacks because "God uses the White Race as leaders." If these are the 'people' that Moore is associated with, Alabama will have more legal woes and charges of racism that it does not need. http://www.splcenter.org/intel/intelreport/article.jsp?aid=520 http://www.splcenter.org/intel/intelreport/article.jsp?pid=375 Hopefully the people of Alabama will see him as a grandstander and if that conference information comes out in the election will ensure he will not be elected. |

That "racist language" was two small lines (which are null and void from federal and other state laws) in a larger body of work that equaled about 30 pages. It was shot down, not because of the two "racial" lines about "seperate but equal schools", but because it would have unleashed the state's education funds to the mercy of the state legislature. There is a lot more to that than two lines which are unenforcable. Painting someone as a racists becuase he opposes a hidden agenda is not a fair and truthful statement. |

Sorry, there was no hidden agenda. That was a bunch of BS that they used to keep from saying "we don't want the racist language removed." Removing those lines wouldn't have changed anything. The Civil Rights Act and subsequent rulings made those lines null and void and meant we had to go back to the former wording. As such, removing those lines from the Constitution would not have changed anything.

Oh, you'll survive. Minnesota survived "The Body" Jesse Ventura without too much harm done.

I've read it backwards and forwards, Brock. And I 've met with Moore on numerous occasions (this thread is about him, ya know). I think my colleagues and I have a very informed opinion of the man.
