I know that this isnt a dodge forum, but I have seen in the past a bunch of people on here that own these trucks. I am looking for a truck to use as my DD to replace the TJ, and use it as a tow rig occasionally, maybe 2-3 times per year. My uncle has a 98 dodge ram 1500 SLT laramie with the 318 and all options available EXCEPT 4x4. It has 166,000k (90% highway) on it and he is the original owner. He said he will sell it to me for 4k, and if I want I can just make payments to him to avoid going to bank for a loan. It is in good shape except a tear in the leather in the driver seat and a small bubble in the clear coat on the bed, and a large bubble in the clear coat on the hood. I was looking at toyota 4x4's but they are ridiculously expensive from what I have found. Will I ever see 18-19 mpg or more likely 13-15 mpg? Is this a good deal in your opinion or should I keep looking, keep in mind I really need to find something fast to get my TJ off the road for a while to do some work to it.
