The 7 slotted grill

So I heard that the 7 slotted grill orginated back from the WW. He said that the jeep was the first vehicle(or first american vehicle, etc..) to be on all seven continents at the same time. And has remained a trademark ever since. I guess this makes sense....any history buffs have 2 pennies?

I just looked now, yeah.

10 slots? that seems weird. I thought my 88 only had 7 slots as well.

I believe it was random until 96 or 97 when they switched to the 7 slotted grill for every model.

There is no 8th continent.

I think they used a 9 slot grill in the WWII Jeeps. The civillian models had the 7 slot grill to differentiate them. I am not sure about the 7 continent thing although it sounds cool.

Jeep does not have exclusive rights to the seven slot grille. They even originally tried to sue Hummer and stop them from using a similar design but it was determined that they did not have sole rights to it.
