21st B-day present

well its a bit premature, as my birfday is on the 12th, but i'm pretty happy about it. I found her on CL, her family was having another kid and didnt have time/room for her. I told the GF about her and about an hour ago we went and picked her up. Her name is Maggie, and she is a 1 1/2 year old Redbone Coonhound. So far she is adjusting very well to her new home. I'll be working with her and finishing her obedience training soon. Eventually i'll teach her how to hunt, probably rabbits/coons. Here's a couple pics:

Yeah she is gonna be fun, I cant wait to take her up north and see how she does in the woods. Between jeeps, guns, and being a 21 year old college kid, I need another hobby like I need a hole in my head. I think she's gonna be well worth it though

well this didn't go as planned. the other day i got an email from the people i got the dog from saying that their kids wouldn't stop crying over the her. and that it was like they had lost a family member. they offered to buy her back, and reimburse me for what i had spent on her so far. at first i was kinda mad, because i really like the dog and didn't want to give her up. well my conscience got the best of me, and i worked out a deal with the family for them to buy her back. so needless to say i'm dogless again, but i think i'm gonna use the money for a little jeep lift kit action. i will get another dog eventually, but this time i'm gonna wait till i can find an english springer spaniel.

That's really depressing. Glad you did the right thing, I would have done the same myself.

Bummer ... Too bad the family didn't take the opportunity to teach their kids about some of the harder decisions in life. Now instead of getting all the love and attention from a great owner, she's in store for many years of being harassed by kids.

Happy Birthday, mines on the same day actually.

And I want another dog...but don't think it will be happening. Good luck with yours though, it's very cute.
