Small blocks are usually superior in a track setting with their lighter weight and higher revving ability. Big block torque tends to overpower the small tires required to run road surface tracks.
The LS7 is an aluminum small block based souley on the Gen. IV small block
The LS7 has 505 HP @ 6200 RPM's..redline at 7000 RPM's....high revving ability?..i'd say so....
475 Ft Lbs of torque @ 4800 RPM's
Torque is a BIG advantage in the track..mainly when coming out of a slower corner and needing that torque to pull it quickly up to speed...
There is several things that people have been complaining about in the comparison track run they did being called totaly bull..for the fact of the bigger cubic inch displacement..the carbon fiber brake system and some suspension mods that would not be allowed to run in the track class the Boss 302 is designed and built to run...
And these complaints are even coming from the die hard Chevy fans too that are at least honest in opinions and facts..
They have also failed to mention the HUGE price difference between the Z28 and the Boss 302..again..it would of been a fair match if they would run against a GT500 which is would be in the same class and price vehicle...
