I dont know why they love dicking around with oreilly so much. I'd be fed up with the team if I was him. He's a quality player I'd like to see on my team
I don't get it either...I would like to think that it's his agent who's making things difficult. O'Reilly's intangibles are incredible and he's arguably the hardest-working guy on the team; the Avs would seriously regret losing him.
The NHL had a very lucrative chance to become a trendsetter among the big four American professional sports, but the league isn't quite ready for that sort of change -- at least not yet.
TSN reported Wednesday that the league has decided -- for now -- against putting corporate logos on jerseys. According to TSN, the NHL estimated the move would have made the league an extra $120 million in revenue.
"Gary (Bettman) and owners like the money, but they don't want to be first out of the box with this in North America," a source told TSN. "They'll wait for the NBA or baseball to do it and then be the second or third."
The NHL apparently doesn't want to break away from tradition -- at least not yet.
Having corporate sponsor logos on jerseys isn't totally foreign in American sports. Major League Soccer teams have corporate logos on their jerseys, and many teams in various leagues -- including the NHL -- already feature corporate logos on practice jerseys.
The NHL's top minor league -- the American League Hockey League -- already showcases corporate logos on game jerseys.
Anthony Mantha out 6 to 8 weeks due to fractured tibia suffered during the prospects tourney. That sucks. I was looking forward to see if the kid could crack the Red Wings line up. I hope this isn't a sign that this season will be like last with the crazy number of injuries.
2006_sport.....Whatcha think of the Caps Winter Classic jerseys?
Love em. They paid homage to the roots of DC sports basically. I already have an Ovi one ordered. A lot of people are hating on them but I did the same. At first glance i was like "meh" but once i looked more into the detail I really started to like em.
Here's a brief history on why they designed em the way they did. Personally I think the big W pays more of a homage towards the old Washington Senators baseball team more than anything else, but who knows. They are sweet regardless
