Hear reports of Bylsma possibly headed to Florida? I feel bad for him if he does.

Pittsburgh lost Orpik, Jokinen, Vitale, and it looks like Niskanen so far....

Picked up Greiss, Ehrhoff, and Comeau.........

To me that isn't improvement, I guess the recent Carolina culture of mediocrity will be heading to Pittsburgh.

Greiss will give us a decent backup, Ehrhoff was a decent pickup but for only a 1 year contract, comeau will give a decent bottom 6 forward but we lost a top 6 forward in Jokinen, a top 2 defensemen (and good PP) in Niskanen and a good physical defensemen in Orpik and a 4th line center in Vitale.

No way the Pens could have come close to what Washington offered Orpik

No way they could afford to pay Niskanen what he'll et in FA

Vitale isn't a big loss but was a decent depth center and good at faceoffs, not what you want to lose when you need depth.

Jussi Jokinen was an excellent 2 way player and extremely consistent.

I think they should have re-signed Jokinen and Vitale.

Not new to the forum, I'm locked out of my account under my old Screename (Vwbeatle1214)

Currently on my 14th Jeep (2006 LJ 4.0 Auto, 3"lift, Pro Comp Extreme wheels, tranny cooler)

They couldn't afford Jussi. And I don't think he wanted to stay with JR because they had bad blood in Carolina. Washington over paid for Orpik and Nisky. NYR overpaid for Glass...1.5 mill?!?

I'm not too worried about it. Pittsburgh will be fine.

Caps definitely overpaid for Orpik, but I think Niskanen was the better deal of the two. I'm happy they are in DC but the price the Caps paid is a tad ridiculous. BM is wanting to get the point across that he isn't afraid to make changes even if it means spending money. I think they are trying to surround Ovi with the best coaching staff/players they can before he's out of his prime in 4-5 years.
