2012 Ford Focus ST Coming To America!
Paris auto show: 2012 Ford Focus lineup revealed
247hp 2.0l 4cyl, dual clutch transmission in a hatchback!
The wife's looking for a new car and needs 4 doors, she likes the GTI's but they are getting expensive and my best friend is a GM at a Ford dealership so I can get one at employee pricing so this looks like our next car!

Its an excellent car, my brother has one in the UK, can't stop saying enough good things about it. I just hope they don't butcher it and make it a "US" version.

Nope 100% global platform same car everywhere.
Think of it this way. It's lighter than a production fox body Mustang, and has 35 more horse power than any 5.0 -93 Mustang GT, the Cobra's only had I think 245hp. Plus it's a 4 cylinder turbo which means it should get good gas mileage if you stay out of the turbo.

Top Gear complained the F***us RS was too torque steer-y and not very much at all to drive.

#27. Shirts get dirty. Underwear gets dirty. Pants? Pants never get dirty, and you can wear them forever.

I think i remember that episode were they tested a bunch of front wheel drive "fast( if you can call them that) cars. Allmost all of them that had any grunt to them would pull the car to the left as soon as you floored it.
That green thing looks like a ricer's dream mixed with a old 60's chrystler "frowny face" grill, stuck on a smart car.
I'll stick to old rwd cars, theres the concept to mondern cars, Something magical called "low rpm torque".

Dual clutch transmission in a focus....wow...didn't take them long..move over ferrari and bmw. That thing is probably going to be a blast to drive. Ford is making some good cars everything from the 5.0 Mustang (which is nearly as quick as an M3) to these hatches with 2.0L motor and 250 hp. They should buy Jeep

That green thing may look like a ricers dream and I agree that's why if I got one of these it would be black or a dark color to tone that down a little bit.
Thing is that green ricer is bad *** it has 305 HP which is as much as the Mustang GT had at the time, 0-60 in 5.9 seconds.
Now the RS500 was the bad boy with 345hp.
These cars are turbo's which means gobs of low end torque. New turbo technology are not the same laggy things they used to be power is avail from low rpm through red line and many have very very flat power and torque curves.

Yep the dual clutch transmission is fast becoming the standard and probably soon to be only transmission avail in most cars. Ferrari no longer even offer a true manual transmission and these can be driven like a manual or auto so I think we are on then verge of slush boxes and manuals going the way of the dinosaur.
