2002 Wrangler Models and Prices

Automotive News published the 2002 Wrangler prices and models in their September 3 issue. There is a new model with an "X" trim level between the stripper "SE" and the "Sport". It will be interesting to see what is included in this package.....

2002 Wrangler Prices(increases over '01)

SE Model: $15,815, an increase of $330
X Model: $18,995, New Model
Sport Model: $20,665, an increase of $925
Sahara Model: $24,035, an increase of $1,015

Prices shown are the base price for that trim group. Optional equipment is extra...

From what I'm being told on the prices - since I'm looking at getting the X to make into a trail rig that the 01 to 02 prices didn't change a bit... Can't confirm that yet but that is what i've been told.

The only difference I can see is that the X doesn't come with the convenience package that the Sport comes with and is about $1000 less. In 2001 the convenience package was an option for the Sport. Doesn't make any sense why they needed a new model for this unless I am missing something?
I also noticed that cloth seats are standard for both Sport and X in 2002. Vinyl is not even an option.
