2002 jaguar xtype... anyone know if this is a good deal?
i work at a dealership but never dealt with jags...
i can pick up a 2002 x-type. loaded, side airbags, sunroof, leather, heated seats, both power seats... this thing is in the wrapper.
oh, 13k miles. 70 year old man traded it for a truck so he can pull his boat.
you think 11,5k is fair?

Sounds good. My old man used to be a grease monkey for Jag and never understood why people bought them he thought they were the biggest peices of **** he ever worked on and he dont talk down about alot of things.

lol some of the engineering is weird, like this...
This is the oil drain plug for an 88 xj6. Slight overkill maybe?

i thought jags had terrible quality issues and such high maintenance costs that owning one was a bad deal in general?

From what I have seen and heard from my old man yes...he once said he would dis own me if I bought a Jag but then he retracted that and just said he would never fix it even though he could.

Ford made major improvements in Jaguar's quality control and reliability. In the first year alone they quality improved by some 85%+ for example.
That said, I don't like the modern Jag designs. Especially the X-Type. Way to bland and indistinct. I also had a chance to drive an X-Type when my mom was in looking for a new car. VERY underwhelmed. Much prefer the BMW's 3 series.
The older late '70's jags looked great. Too bad reliability sucked.

my 69 doesnt have bad reliability any more
my mom had an xj6 at one time and it was a great car. the only problem we ever had was that one of the tapes got jammed in the tape deck my experience with them have always been good.
