1990 chevy 3500 engine troubles

I recently bought a 1990 chevy 3500 with a 454 7.4l motor and auto trans. 4wd. now i bought it with these problems hoping i can fix them. i got the codes out, its
code 43 knock sensor
or electronic spark control circuit fault

The symptoms are, the truck doesnt accelerate worth a damn, has terriable gas mileage( i know its a 454) when i shift from park to a gear, the idle drops to almost stalling and then picks back up. i also have a service engine soon light

Would replacing the knock sensor fix this? i was told that code will retard the timing. This could be the cause of all my problems right? thanks

Knock sensor will retard the timing and cause the symptoms you are experiencing. Could be the sensor, there's a checklist to run through before you just throw a new sensor on it, though (basically see if it's getting power, the right resistance, etc.)
