Pa opening day is normally about the second Saturday in april. I always take my kids out to a river near us where they set aside an inlet creek for just kids under 12. The best part is all the kids start tossing in there bobbers at about 7:55. That is into a creek that doenst have a fish in it. At about 8:10 (and no body has had even a nibble... did I mention that there are no fish in the creek) the quads pull up with the coolers of fish and dump them in by the 100's some up to 13 and 15 pounds! Just to watch the kids faces when they toss in all of those fish is priceless!

We normally fish for about 2 hours, catch about 20 to 30 trout, keep about 5 and head on home for fresh fish lunch.

Kids can't wait more than me.

Yeah man I've been ready for a while now. NY opens April first. This will be my first real opening day up here. I moved up from PA last year but missed the start. I picked up a stream map and have scouted a few places. I tell my girlfriend she better enjoy our time together now cause after April 1st she'll never see me.

Well the 13ft Raven float rod has already had a good workout this spring so far in the mouth of our rivers but the streams are not open yet. By the time the streams open I'm on the lake most of the time. Going up to northeastern Ontario sometime between the last week of April- may 24. Cant wait, lol, already loosing sleepover it.

More like 20 minutes into Ontario. We're going to Charleston Lake ( part of it is a Provincial Park ). One end of the lake is the town of Charleston and we're at the other end near Outlet.

Outlet is so small if you sneezed driving thru it , you'd miss it.

My biggest so far, 10lb 12 oz 38" long. That's a picture of the Polaroid that hangs on the camp wall of "trophy size fish".

I posted that picture on another forum and the guy mentioned another lake with a "whispering pines".

Have you purchased gas at that one? It's the gas dock near the dam for Charleston lake.

No, I havent fished it, I just keep track of potential spots to go. There's another Whispering Pines just 10 mins. from me. They refer to it as being on Lake Huron, but it's about 20 mins. from it.

Here's one I threw back ( 99.9% is catch and release)

Looks like we'll be there for the first week of pike, Labor Day week and the first week of OCT. Let me know if you're stopping in ( before as I don't have an internet connection there)

I'd love to be fishing at that time of year but my buisness takes control of me in the fall. I do fish a salmon derby in the fall but thats about it. Looks like some good pike come out of there, catch and release is the way.
