Kurt at LV Steel Targets really took care of me this week. Picked up a #6 in 3/8" and took it out for the first time today. Pretty good crosswind, but me and my 14 year old son were nailing steel all day at 200 and 400 yds.

Nice build! I have been looking into a longer range platform and this caught my eye.. now to find one! I currently shoot a Savage model 11 (in .223) w/ a Leupold VX4-II scope which is a tac driver at 100 yards. How do you like harris bipod?

The Harris bipod is solid and I am getting great accuracy so far between 100-400 yds from the prone.

How many rounds does this hold? Should I go with .308 or .300 Win Mag? And what does the difference in barrel length equate to? How about the heavy barrel verses a standard rem 700 non tactical barrel?

4+1...but will probably upgrade with a detachable magazine kit. The barrel is 20" and I believe the standard barrel is 26". One reason I went with .308 is I stick with the big 4 calibers...9mm, .45, 5.56 and 7.62x51 (.308) due to ammunition availability. I started reloading after my girlfriend got me a reloading press and .308 is a common enough round and relatively cheap to reload.

Is it a bad time to buy .308 in bulk? I want this rifle but due to the potential gun measures so many rifles and pistols are out of stock.

.308 in bulk is tough to find around here and has become quite expensive.

Still trying to find my stock...everyone seems to be sold out right now. But I did get a custom 550 cord sling from Dr. Marneaus.

I like that sling. Would look nice on my Savage 12FV.

You will love that rangefinder. I have the same one, also have a couple of there Scopes. What stock are you thinking of ? I have a HS precision on my coyote gun and love it. Also had a McMillan A4 on an old long range gun pricey but worth it.

Sent from my XT881 freezeray gun using JeepForum

I ordered a McMillan M40 stock that should be delivered Monday. I did some research about rangefinders and talked to a few folks and settled on the Vortex. Had it out in the neighborhood today and so far Amy very pleased. Planning on heading out to tomorrow to try out some reloads tomorrow and take the rangefinder.

Windy day at CCSP...

15-20 mph crosswind played havoc with my target at 100 yds...damn thing kept moving back and forth. Five shots, 168g hand loads...one the left is two shots
