If you are not an 01 or at least and 03 FFL, remember that you'll have to have them shipped to a dealer. The dealer will charge you a fee to do the transfer.

You might want to try Big 5 sporting goods or Dunhams sporting goods. They carry SKSs. Ask to see them all and look them over well. Pick the best of the bunch.

Don't forget you'll have to clean all the cosmoline off before you can shoot it!
hey thanks for the info! i think i know what to ask for for my birthday

Here it is with a Center Point 3-9x32 scope.

I took it out last weekend shooting. Put about 300 rounds through it. I had some jamming issues later on in the day. The shells weren't ejecting fast enough and were getting caught in the bolt. I think it was because I didn't clean it all day because I didn't have the right stuff to do it yet. I went out and bought a cleaning kit and a bore snake for it so I shouldn't have problems with that anymore. Besides that it shot great. I was getting about 2" groups at 50 yards. I'm still getting my technique down though.

I have an 870 too, but mines the police issue. Pistol stock and all, brand new, $300.

Other than having fun with it, its useless. Smooth bore, chokeless, and a short barrel. The scatter pattern is huge. BUT....for doing what its designed for (an entry gun), it does a good job.

the police issue 870s have a 14 in barrel which is illegal to own by a civilian. yours just LOOKS like a police issue.

Actually, with some simple paperwork and a $200 tax stamp you can own a short barrel rifle. (SBR) or a 14" barreled shotgun.

Heck you can legally own a machine gun if you want to fill out the paperwork and pay for the stamp.

I had a red dot on it. But after a couple tubes of rapid fire, the inner lens (the one that reflects the dot) fell off its mount.

The gun itself was $250 IIRC. It was a basic black composite short barrel/ long tube 870. I bought the new stock and barrel shroud for another $50. I see guys selling identical setups at the local gun shows for $350. Im pleased with the deal.
