Automatic Rifles

In America, the everyday citizen cannot own and use an automatic rifle, correct?

The reason I ask is because there are tons of videos on YouTube and everywhere else of people owning and using a M1 garand. Be it a gun enthusiast or a WW2 vet bringing back old memories.

But M1 garands are automatic rifles, are they not?

They are semi-automatic. One pull of the trigger equates to one round fired, and a new round chambered. Repeat the process until out of ammo. Fully automatic is one trigger pull continuously will fire all of the ammo.

I agree with your definition.

I'm trying to get information on this tan rifle. And if it's legal for a civilian to own.

apparently I'm doing something wrong.

I think I found the problem. The rifles pictured are not M1 Carbines. At first I thought they may be M14's but now I think they may be M1A's ( a rifle I've never heard of; I'm new to this. lol). Anyone got a good guess?

That's pretty amazing! Thank you!

The M1A is the semi automatic verson of the military M14. There are several commercial manufactures of the M1A. Sprinfield, the most popular, LRB, Smith Enterprise, etc. Here's another source. I have purchased firearms from both Buds and Grabagun. Both are good to do business with.

I'll second the recommendation to Buds. Never done business with Grabagun though.

For the record, civilians CAN own a full auto weapon, with a class 3 license. Several of my friends have it. I dont want it.

I'm assuming I would have to go through the ATF to get that?

Why don't you want it?
