XJ Homage Build Thread

I used to own a 2001 Jeep XJ. I honestly had no intention of owning a Jeep but I fell in love with it when I saw it at the dealership.

Here it is stock

Then I got the bug and lifted it.

I loved it but, I wrecked it.

So, the journey began to find another Jeep. I found this WK and immediately bought it.

Bro - that WK looks great! First time I've seen XK wheels on a WK - I like it.

Any issues with the 285's?

Also, I was thinking of taking the bottom plastic rails off mine like your pic shows and then following suit with Omelet and doing the spray bedliner accross the bottom. Do you see any issues with having them off?

Thanks man, its def a work in progress.

Yes make sure you so the front and rear fender mods. I didnt do the rear just to see how necessary it was. Long story short...its necesaary unless you run longer bumpstops.

I removed the side rails because I dropped the wk on a boulder when it was still stock height. (look at the massive dent underneath the front passenger door) I planned on doing the bedliner a while back but omelets has a better budget than me so he beats me to all my mods lol no issue with having them off despite mudd and water can splash to the interior but never manages to actually reach carpet or seating.

Yeah I couldn't tell if what I was looking at was a big dent/bow in the bottom passenger side or if it was a weird reflection in the picture. You mentioned the S.A. sliders are enroute - they will look good and give some nice protection from the other pics I've seen. BTW - what is the cost comparison to the 4xG sliders?

awesome... looks good man. Added to build thread.

i paid around $700 for mine. although, i ordered them powdercoated already. I'm no familiar with the 4xguard price, was never really interested.

It is worthy...

Very nice build so for man! That is a good looking WK for sure! I always liked the hulk wheels but I could never find a used set around here.

JeepN4KC - the 4xG rails go for $550 plus shipping and the SA start at $450 and go up from there.

mattydipps 02-12-2012 02:44 PM

HMMM. $450 vs. $550? Makes a guy think. Thanks for the heads-up.

Omelet 02-12-2012 04:46 PM

It just depends on what you want. You want basic protection and a sleek OEM look, go with 4xG. If you want the most protection offered to us and don't mind the non OEM look, or even prefer the aggressive off road look, go with SA.

Doing the OBA install tomorrow morning, Valentine's Day, I know. Luckily I have connections at a local shop that are letting me use the shop.

Looking good Efrain! Best color out there! I may be a little biased though ;)
