WK D-Ring questions?

Hi all,

I tried to search the forums for a good write-up or video of how to install recovery d-rings on our WK's. Maybe I have missed something, but I am mainly concerned with what I need to have recovery points installed on the front my my 05 WK Limited.

I know my Jeep has the tow package on the build sheet and the back of my jeep even has a place to hitch a trailer. Does something need to be installed or modified in order to install the d-rings on the front bumper area like I see everyone else have? Are they fairly easy to install? Thank you in advance.

Do you have hooks on the front now?

No I do not. I like the look of the d rings though and want to add them.

I'm guessing I will need some D-Ring brackets as well as the D-Rings and then they install into some bolt holes in a mounting crossmember behind the bumper cover?

Don't know if I am heading in the right direction.

There should be 3 holes on each side of that crossmember that they bolt into. I was told the bumper would have to be taken off to get to them but I fit some tools up in there to remove the factory tow hooks. So an install shouldn't be any different. I'll post some pics of where I removed mine when I get off work if you wanna see what mine looks like. Yes I'm posting on jeep forum at work

Welcome to the club of productiveness at work!

I'm interested in putting shackles up front too, as I seemingly have NO recovery points whatsoever on my rig. No rear hitch, no factory tow hooks, I got jipped.

If I'm not mistaken some jeeps WKs didn't come with anything to mount to in the front. I could be wrong. But 4xguard sells mounts for this sort of thing though.

You can mount D Rings to the receiver mount that 4XGuard sells for the WK, although because I have that mount on mine I just put a shackle in the receiver mount if I need to pull from the front.

Has anybody tried those shackles that the guy is selling on ebay?

And I believe those ones sold on eBay are similar to the ones on 4xguard. Just personal preference I guess

I didn't see any mounts specific to WK on 4xguard.com only stuff for wranglers. Maybe I am missing something or not looking at the right thing.

When you go to their website just click on the 05-10 grand cherokee tab. All the products under that link are WK specific.
