Please do let us know. I can't even take it to the dealer as the problem occurs so intermittently...

I had an intermittent vibration for over a year but it did not get worse. But today after getting back from a 700 mile tow the Jeep would bind and grind making either a right or left turn so it's either a CV or a driveshaft failing in the front.

Just got off the phone with the dealer and the u-joints are bad. They are replacing both drive shafts since the U-joints are not servicable. When I get it back I will let you know if im still having any issues.

By the way, mine is a Black 2005 Hemi, not a CRD.

The CRD and Hemi use the same QDII system, transaxles and even the same transmission.

Unfortunately for us CRD owners the gearing is too tall - made for a gas engine so at 70 mph we are running 2,800 RPM which is very near our 4,500 rpm redline and way too high

I'm anxiously awaiting the dealer to let me know what is wrong.

Good thread !
Was that sound was like a knocking sound that was in harmony with the wheels rotation at low speed (60km/hrs - 30Mph and bellow) ?

Could be the pavement you are driving on.I went for a drive last Friday to Calgary from Red Deer and while on the 4 lane in my 2008 CRD I was feeling the odd wheel shake and drive line
vibe once and a while but it all went away when I hit the brand new pavement they just laid down.Must be harmonics floating around from rough pavement. That was the smoothest pavement I have ever driven on.Good job by the paving company. It actually surprised me when all the vibes went away.

I run at 2200 rpm at 60mph, that is the common speed limit here. I think the best fuel economy is around 55mph.

I just looked today and it is actually 2700 rpm at 70-72 mph. I've got stock tires so I bet if I'd get larger wheels I'd get better gearing.

Anyway - got it back from the dealer and no more noise. Seems it wasn't an axle or differential but both solenoids (F&R) were bad causing the grinding noise. They also did the recall for the drive control module.

curious to know if this fixes your issue, I suspect it will not.

If it don't I will take it right back and let them replace something else. The upside to all of this is that I should have a rock solid jeep when all is said and done.

Here is a list of all they have replaced so far (not all of this was for the vin issue)

Transfer case
Shocks
Water pump
Sway bar mounts
Sway bar end links
Differentials have both been serviced
Seems like there was something else 😏

wow you had all this covered under warranty to fix the current vibration issue? my dealer seems to only do repairs my warranty does NOT cover and do NOT fix the problem I brought it in for.

Dealer covered most of this before I bought the jeep. We test drove it off and on for over a month. The vibration really started showing itself after we bought it and took it on a long trip. We have been very blessed to have a dealership that has gone above and beyond for us.

I also received the recall for re-flashing the drive control module, but I haven't done it yet. Gads...it couldn't be that simple, could it? Mine feels and sounds like the whole truck is about to explode...when it's doing the vibration, which is very intermittently.

As far as revs, 2700 at around 70 mph is right about what I see with mine, too. We have 3.73 axles...

I had the grinding / vibrating feeling only when turning left or right and it got worse the more sharply I turned.

I often tow with a caravan of others to my races and they will go 70-80 mph which I don't like going that fast as it spins the engine too high for too long. IIRC there was a guy here with an '07 who swapped in a different rear end ratio to give the CRD taller gearing.
