i really love my 2006 SRT8 but a few months ago it started making noise which could not be identified correctly (even by a dealer).
The noise is really loud and appears 100% after 10-15 miles of driving.
So, here is the history of what i did so far, the link to vid and the error codes; hopefully somebody within JF can give me the key indication for repair.
2006 Jeep Grand Cherokee WK SRT8; 50.000 miles.
Noise appeared out of a sudden on a 500km trip. Changed all liquids (Front+ rear diffs with Castrol Syntrax Limited Slip 75W-140 | API GL-5, MB 235.61, ZF TE ML 05D), Transfer case using MOPAR NV146 ( fill level 3,5 cm below fill plug).
Changed front right wheel hub; No improvement.
Funny thing is that when the car is cold you can drive perfectly and really hard for about 10-15 miles before noise starts again.
The noise seems to come from a rotating part on the front of the car, its aligned to wheel RPMs.
One can feel it in the car that something is stuttering, when noise gets worse.
Took car to the dealership.
They had not heard that noise before and had no idea instead of looking for leakage (no leakage at any parts) No visual worn out parts.
Told me to change the brakes (yes they were worn) but i suspected that this was not the root cause.
Changed complete brakes (Brembo stuff) (pads+discs F+R) with no improvement.
They read out the cars errors:
Relevant codes could be
FDCM -U0415 Transfer case Motor function
TCM -P0710 Temp Sensor AT
TCM -U140 A Unplausible value Front right Tire (perhapsa result from changing the Front right Wheel hub)
Created an underfloor video.
Noise is extreme from 1:45-1:55; 2:40-3:05 and 3:05 to end of the video.
Using Headphones especially the last Minute the noise can be heard very clear and loud.
Is this the result of a Transfer case Motor malfunction ? Or sthg different ?
Many thanks for any hint!
