wheel paint

I got a set of wrangler wheels for my wk & painted the edges of the spokes with duplicolor wheel paint. after it cured for about 3 days I installed the new tpms sensors. at that point I found that the paint started to peel.
what if anything did those of you who painted your wrangler wheel do that im missing?
thanks for the help

How did you clean and prep the wheel?
I would use a soap that cuts grease. Then scuff with the surface with sand paper or a scotch bright pad. Then wipe with alcohol.

scuffed it with a scotch brite, washed with soap & water, then washed with acetone
