What's the biggest tire I can fit with....

Okay before i get the ban stick. Ive read the faq (please dont link it).

I am in desperate need of new tires. I have 60k on my stock fortera's 0.o and my front passenger is showing metal bands. =O

My question is now what is the biggest size tire i can get for the winter and long trips. Im pretty set on the firestone destination A/Ts. I have a stock height wk now amd eventually want to grab a set of black srt reps for this spring.... And dare i say..... Lower it.... So i dont know if it would be worth it to lower it with the reps on or just fill up the wheel wells with some beef on the reps?

Any suggestions are great as i am looking to get these this weekend. Along with some rear stillens from kolak.

I ran 255/70 firestone A/Ts before my lift. Minor rubbing at full lock - with no spacers. roughly a 31" tire

Thanks for the replies guys. Going to be ordering something tonight just still not sure what it is.

Thinking maybe some slightly wider and maybe taller then stock M/T's. Im really sick of having crappy all seasons and ive seen on my wrangler what bald mts can do in snow/mud/ anything with no tread and just side lugs.

Actually im really torn between the general grabbers and the destinations in 255/70/17. Both same price, but the firestones have white sidewalls and generals are black.... I cant let some tires hinder my blackout process. Does anyone have the destinations that can tell me if they are black on one side and white on the other? Maybe i can switch them.

We have the Destination AT's on my wife's Durango- they're white letter on one side, black serrated letters on the other. We run black side out- they look great.

Okay so I'm heading to the firestone dealer in a bout an hour, gotta find someone to drive my WK over there since they are pretty backed up I gotta pick it up at 6pm #seperationanxiety.

Got quoted $700 for 4 Firestone Destination A/T's 255/70/17 installed and then have a coupon for $75 off. $625 for 4 tires installed? Not too bad at all. Just really hope these things fit without having to cut the bolt or pinch weld.

Wow sorry can't believe I didn't follow up on this thread..

They fit great! Small rubbing at full lock when I put them on. They clear the bolt by about a pinky tip. They look awesome, fill the wheel wells very nicely.

The tires themselves are amazing too. Thy handle great on road and through the dirt roads I've taken them on. Likewise in the rain. I'm really waiting to try them in the snow! The wk used to tear through snow with bald forteras so I think I'm going to be very impressed.

I'm on my phone so let me see if I can get some pictures.

Do you think those tires in a 255/65/17 would get rid of the minor rub?

Or a 245/70/17?

looks good. i had firestone destination a/t on my WJ and they were incredible. great on the road, great in the rain/snow, and excellent tread wear.

on a side note: your jeep looks really sharp. have you ever considered blacking out those two strips of chrome trim? they really stand out with everything else blacked out
