What performance upgrades do I need?

So I finally figured out the issue with the borla exhaust, just installed the cold air kit, going to get tuned with the diablo tuner this week. What else do I need? I'd like it to run a 15.2ish. Where else should I go with it?

I have great pricing on Diablo if you didn't already purchase that. Send me a PM.

My question is...why are these things so bloody slow? They have plenty of power/weight ratio to be much faster. I mean, the Ford Explorer Sport has 8hp more, 40#tq less, and weighs within a hundred pounds or so the same, is also AWD, and is a full second faster 0-60, and maintains that lead through the 1/4 mile along with about a 5mph trap-speed bettering. Where did Jeep screw up?

Transmission gearing. The explorer sport has 4.84 - 2.87- 1.84- 1.4- 1.0- 0.74 with a 3.16 final drive ratio. That really makes a difference over the jeep with the 545rfe's 3- 1.67- 1- 0.75 - 0.67 even with 3.73s. Torque multiplication is king. (Not to mention the 3.5 tt's nice torque curve certainly helps some)

I understand gearing, and that makes sense, but a full second and 5mph trap speed? Gears do not give you that kind of performance difference. They might help ET, but they do NOT give you 5mph more trap speed. Actually, it looks more like 5-8mph trap-speed looking at 1/4 mile times for the vehicles.
I get that 0-60 the Sport has a mad advantage, but that isn't enough to give it a 5mph higher trap speed. Using your math, if I find an Explorer Sport on the freeway and punch it and we both end up in 1:1, I should stomp it because I have better rear-end gearing. I simply am NOT confident in that result...it sounds very hokus pokus.

The ONLY thing I will buy is that the Explorer Sport has a rediculous stall converter and the testers torque-braked it to 3200rpm and launched the living hell out of it and that on the street day-to-day it won't come anywhere near the numbers I've seen from auto mags.

Or there is more to it than just gearing. The Jeep's gears really are not bad given the medium sized V8 and decent torque curve.

WAIT:

Maybe I don't understand what our Jeeps do, it is my impression that they:

0-60: 7.0s
1/4 mile:15.0@92mph

Is this correct for a 4x4 5.7L 2009-2010?

definitely the tranny. i mean you have the hemi so it should be pretty quick- youve done exhaust, tuner, and intake. start looking into some SRT bolt-ons if youre looking for speed... the manifold, throttle body, headers, etc. after that, id start looking into modding the tranny. fortunately for the SRT guys W5A580 tranny, which the 3.7 also has- all they need to do is throw the blue top solenoids(brings the tranny to AMG spec) in them and theyre good to go. wish the 545RFE was easily modified, all you can do is a tune and the line pressure mod.

apparently it doesnt effect anything long term- if anything it increases the line pressure, firming up the shifts which will create less where on the tranny.

If I'm running Superchip 91 perf tune with trans app do I need to go back to stock and run with the line pressure booster for a couple weeks or can I install it with the tune in?

http://www.amazon.com/MB-Solenoid-Ga.../dp/B009HC5LCE, i have not done any research into these. a buddy of mine that owns a SRT told me he was doing this with his SRT.

as for running the sonnax with a tuner, im pretty sure a few people on here run it with a tunner- i.e. Nate and his Bison

That appears to be a very interesting mod for the poor little 3.7l.

3.73's and the 'noids would really help this heavy rig.

The solenoids are more expensive than I had hoped unfortunately

Have to convince the wife it will improve MPG and tranny longevity.

I see its here as well:

I feel like this mod deserves its own thread. Sad they didn't use this trans with the HEMI.
