I washed the WK, and then put some shine on my shoes. Only to find that they have all cracked to hell. FML

Michelin LTX M+S with about 85% tread left on them. Sidewall near the rim, small cracks all over all 4. In between all the tread blocks small cracks everywhere. They are 6 years old, so I guess they dried out? I have had them for less than 2 years...I bet they only have 25,000 KM on them.

Looking at Hankook ATM, Cooper AT3, Falken Wild Peak, Toyo OC AT2 and a couple others, but leaning towards the Hankook/Cooper's. 255/70/17 MAYBE the 265. About to go check the Tire and Wheel sticky for some real world shots.

Wish me luck.

Washed and detailed after 2 months of constant dirt and mud. Needless to say my hands hurt and the smell of compound is now agonizing.

Eh I've been thinking of just running it until it dies, unless someone gives me an offer I can't pass up. I realized I'd prefer to drive a modded WK rather than a stock JK...and I won't be able to mod that JK for a while (college next year will suck my time and money).

Finally got notification from Steel Armadillo that my Keystone Brush guard will be shipping by the end of the month! Not necessarily anything that I have done to my WK, but if anyone else was wondering when they would be released, now you know!

Yeah your supposed to change them at 6 years regardless of miles. I have the Falken Rocky Mountains from Discount Tire which is the same as the Wild Peaks. I love mine and the 55,000 mile warranty. For the price and quality, you can't beat them.

Michelin says 5-10 years, others 5-6 years. Depends on conditions, use, mileage etc. My WK sat in an underground parking garage under a luxury condo here in town for most of its life. Probably just dried them out? Last 2 outside in my driveway.

Installed my DPF delete pipe from Tnadanzig. I have to thank him for the fine piece of craftsmanship he sold me. Took roughly two hours. Having stubby ratcheting 1/2 and 5/8ths wrenches made life a lot easier.

Finally got around to changing my diff fluids. FIgured I would give the royal purple a try. First time touching the differentials and can really feel more of a sharpness in the ride. Now next week get to do my girlfriends KJ

Two weeks ago rebuilt the entire front end suspension and new shocks in the rear. The main problem was bad C/V's and shocks, so I figured while I was in there I would just knock out the control arms, sway bars, tie rods, hub units and replaced "the bolt" as well. Got it all back together, had it aligned, put new tires on it (Cooper Discoverer AT3's, 265/70-17). Still had a nice little chunk, chunk, chunk, chunk noise while slowing down.... so I had the pleasure of rebuilding the front drive shaft yesterday. Noise appears to be gone.

I used the Monroe Reflex line of struts on the front. It's listed as an increased handling/performance shock. Should be an OE replacement, but I'm having an issue with them. The body of the strut seems to be a bit longer and is hanging through the strut fork just a bit further. under heavy acceleration, or anytime the front droops, the C/V is hitting the bottom of the shock... not too sure what to about that yet... anyone else have some experience with this?

After all this there's a couple things I've decided:
1) I'm NEVER buying a car that has spent any time on the east coast again. Road salt has to be the single worst thing ever.
2) I'm really not impressed with some of the engineering decisions the Jeep made on this rig.
a) A transfer case that can't operate w/o the front drive shaft?
b) Why in the dumb f*%#ing world would you get away from u-joints in the drive shaft or not having a re-buildable rear? why? There's no way that C/V style joint is more cost effective that a u-joint shaft. Not to mention that given the dealer has a national back order and wait list of 500+ people.

Anyways, rant over. I've still got a few rattles to chase down, but overall the ride and road composure is 150% better.
