Finally got the lower bolts out of the rear shock mounts.....lots of PB Blaster and WD-40, plus a long sleeve bar on a 1/2" breaker bar. Spray...move slightly...spray... move slightly...etc. to be sure you are not twisting the head off the bolt. BTW: The outside nut (21mm) is captive (welded) on the rear axle housing so don't try to loosen it.

Installed the Monroe Reflex rear shocks (911278) in about 1/2 hr after I got the bolts loose. Replaced the lower bolts (06506147AA) as part of the new shock installation. [Recommend Never-Seize on all mounting bolts if you are in there anyway.]

Will see how the Monroe's perform compared to the Tokico OEM's (which had 60K miles on them).

Got my D-Ring mount done
D-rings are too small just wanted to see how they'd look. Thinking about trimming my front bumper tomorrow.

FINALLY after 68k miles I was able to do a spark plug change... Took me forever. An elbow extension would have been nice. As well as changed the PCV valve 34$ at NAPA. Changed the battery, Plasti Dipped the grill black which came out AWESOME. And used Seafoam in the gas tank, oil, and vacuum line. After all this the jeep runs so much better.

Well yesterday. I mounted my radar detector to my rear view mirror with a bicycle reflector bracket. (http://www.planet-9.com/987-cayman-b...rt-9500ix.html)
. Also tapped radar into rear view mirror.
Installed the 3000K HID kit from my WJ fogs into my WK fogs. Ended up having to use the ballasts from my WJs low beams. My low beam HIDs are 6K but, 1 was on the way out and turning yellowish. I am in process of ordering another set of bulbs.
I have another set of ballasts which I double checked in the WK lows and I see they work. But each time I turned them off they wouldn't come back on. The ballasts I used in the fogs worked fine the lows when I tested last week. I went to use again last night for the lows. And they wouldn't turn on, I flipped the harness around and, they work fine. So I have DDM ballasts in lows and fogs. No relays for either. I've read the posts about relays needed for the lows. And mine seem fine without them. Well 'cept, when I turn the fogs off my lows go off instead. And when I turn my lows off, they remain on and the fogs go off. Hopefully I'm not doing any damage. But I have a relay kit which I will install when I receive my replacement bulbs. Btw, with the exception of the relay kit. Installing HIDs in lows and fogs in the WK, way easier then the WJ.

I have been searching for the source of the "clunk" that I keep hearing in the rear of my 05. After tightening the shocks and every other thing I thought it could be I finally just laid under the thing and pulled/hammered on everything I could and found that my rear right upper control arm was rattling because the bushing is falling out in tiny pieces!!! Now my questions is, Should I get two new upper arms ($100) or should I buy the bushings only ($14) and have a go at it. I have a OME MD set of springs that will be replacing the stocker/spacer set up I have in now..

Do it! Just be sure to black out your washer fluid reservoir.

I did! I posted a pic on Sunday but need a better pic of it. I love how it turned out. I have a quick write up on my build thread too.

As you can see from the first pic the shift blinders were shot. So I found a replacement on eBay and swapped them out. Huge process with the 4wd selector. Whole console and a hvac duct had to come out to get to it. She's finished and looks like a beauty. If you ever have to do it there's an awesome video on youtube that was a HUGE help.

Installed my K&N intake today. My first official mod of the jeep since I bought it a month ago. Although a small mod. More to come!

Some day I would like to replace mine also, but I do not have a 4wd selector. Will it be easier without the 4wd selector?
