it tricks the computer into thinking the air thats coming in though the intake is colder then what it really is ... thus producing more power.. i might be wrong on this one but i think it retards the timing also?
i think jager00 has before and after pics of his temps inside his build thread .... it only works with an aftermarket intakes

It works with my stock intake. As long as you have the plug it works. And i dont think you can do that with a tunner. But yes there are ics in my build somewhere lol

A tuner won't trick the computer into thinking the air coming in is colder then what it really is, it'll only add a few hp a tuner will tweak the whole system and squeeze hp out of what already is there and a power wire will add power, if that makes sense

Have you guys had any "noticeable" gains from the power wire?

I believe the tuners advance the timing and if the power wire does this because of the cold temp readings and the tuner does it couldn’t it put to much timing into the engine that would lead to spark nock?

Feels a little more jumpy off the line bur no major improvements in the 1/4 mile. However on my way to work theres a hill where my wk downshifts but it powes thru the gear now with no hesitation

Yes it can. That's what the knock sensors are for. As soon as they sense spark knock or unnormal vibrations it will pull timing. Tricking the pcm into thinking the IAT's are lower will allow the pcm to run more timing. Given the perfect environment, engine temps, and higher octane fuel it would work perfectly. On a hot summer day where your engine normally retards timing due to heat soak I would think this power wire to be a bit dangerous. But again the knock sensors will pick up on it and retard timing anyways. To me its kind of a moot mod.

Kinda.
It's costs a tank of gas and if it saves me one over the course of the lifetime of this Jeep, it's worth it.
Well, at today's prices and with any future savings on gas, every little bit will help.

i just dont see it... If it gives the engine more power then how come the engineers that get paid to know this stuff didnt make the engine run this way all the time... There has to be a draw back or it has to do with MPG or emissions
