Sorry I should have noted that I tried them both ways and tried both bulbs to no avail...I know leds can be put in backwards bc I think I put them in wrong every single time and have to flip them haha

It seems too simple. Is this basically all this entails?

^^^Yes - both front and rear diffs are very easy to do yourself. The transfer case as well.
Personally I have done the rear diff both the "cheater" method in the video and pulling the cover off and doing a complete drain/refill. I would recommend pulling the cover. It is a much more thorough service and you can inspect the gears, clean inside the pumkin with brake cleaner, reseal your diff cover, just a better way to do it and it isn't any more difficult than wrenching a few bolts.

Damn. Fear of the unknown. Looks like an easy afternoon project. What's this usually run, cost-wise?

Not sure...I just saw it was the right size bulb number and thought I'd try it...I wanted a completely clear bulb that lit up yellow bc I don't like how the stock yellow bulb makes the whole lower housing look yellow from the reflection

You should expect to spend about $135 give or take for the front/rear diffs and t-case. Depends on the brand of fluids you buy. Dealers will charge you at least twice that much just to service your differentials.

Looks he's got one for the transfer case too.

^^^Transfer case is super easy, just remove the drain and fill plugs (just make sure you remove the fill plug first) The only issue I had was a bracket in the way so I could get a tool in there. I ended up having to cut down an allen wrench and use it.
