Did my pinch weld today. Wasn't very difficult. It's scary how quickly you can slice through metal on the WK with a sawzall. Made 3 cuts in the pinch, heated with a torch, and folded over with a 3# sledge. Put a couple welds in after. Not as pretty as the thread from the other day, but I got some good penetration. It's very difficult with the stick welder, I need to invest in a mig. Afterwards, I cleaned it up, primed it, and finished with 3M rubberized under coating. I left the liner just the way it was. I don't have any rubbing currently, I did the pinch a s a pre-caution after seeing A.J.'s on-trail pinchweld repair.
Also tinted my front windows w/ 20% film. Couldn't take any pics because I was afraid to stop while working.
Good job Buda. Wish I'd done my pinch weld the way you did. I just beat the crap outta mine....took a couple of days to get over that one.
Thanks. I was inspired by the earlier pinch weld thread done by the body shop. Good timing on that one, as I was already planning on doing it this weekend. The torch makes a huge difference. Softens it up and allows you to easily fold it flat.
Would have had it done in two hours but a fellow forum member who lives in town stopped by for an intro. So we spent about an hour talkin' and checkin out each others rigs.
He's got a '98 TJ lifted on 35's w/ lockers front and rear. Not too shabby for a 21 year old.
nothing major... got the alignment done as suggested by many... it drives even smoother which totally stumps me... I never had a problem lol. I also got the adaptors retorqued in preparation for my trip to the Maryland, lol.
