What is It?

Ok, CRD guys. I noticed this loose hose today on the driver's side of the engine compartment. It seems to lead down to a point on top of the transmission and it has a little green cap on it that fits loosely and wobbles around. I'm thinking it is a vent pipe of some kind.

What is it? Where does it attache. Notice in the picture that it has come loose from where ever it was attached.

I think that is either your transfer case vent or your evap system vent.

I can't label the hose for you, Chirpz, but I've looked at it a couple of times in my engine bay and wondered about it, too.

Thatís the transmission vent hose. The vent hose for the front diff is mounted to one of the studs for the passenger side strut mount. For some reason, the trans vent hose on mine was also just flopping around in there.

IIRC, it used to clip to the front bracket for the engine cover. But yes, it's for the transmission. The transfer case vent is rather short.

Thanks for the comments. I still can't see where the little fastener plugs in, so I wire tied it to the engine cover mount.

On my WK 2005 CRD there is some foam and a plastic cover over the 3 injectors. This cover has 2 points where the vent hose just is pushed down into to keep it in place.

Ding Dong!! The light dawn. I bet mine was the same, but I removed and discarded those covers 60,000 miles ago.
