Weird Weird Weird!!! Any thoughts?

Hi guys!

I just picked my Jeep up from the exhaust shop. I ordered a magnaflow muffler and a resonated tip from Kolak a few weeks ago and finally took it in to get done. I have the 4.7L V8 and sounds deeper and louder but I mainly hear what sounds like a turbine or a lot of air rushing through that tip rather than a throaty sound. I already contacted Kolak and I'm more than positive he will take care of anything I need. My question is does a resonated tip have a break in period? Have any of you experienced this before? Help!

Rob

I understand that but a sound of air rushing out? It's definitely the tip not the muffler.

If the muffler is a bit too large (quieter) it can sound more like rushing air vs grumble. I friend of mine put a magnaflow on hos f-150 and when you really get on it, it sounds like rushing air.

Did your friends F150 break in and stop the air sound

No. As far as i know if you have a chambered muffler theres nothing to break in. If it has packing or absorbent materials then it could change over time.

I would be curious to know which model muffler you have? Take some pics. You might be happier with the resonated tip removed.

I'm really not happy with how quiet it sounds. It not much louder than my stock setup.

I got the same tip from kolak. I have a flow master 40 series on my 05 4.7. The flow master by itself resonated way too much in the cabin. With the addition of the tip it sounds like a beast. I do get more of an air sound at higher rpms when I step in it but idling and around town driving it sounds like a 4.7 should.

So maybe it's the muffler and not the tip? The muffler looks pretty big.

I agree. That muffler looks either 18"/22", possibly bigger.

IIRC, Magnaflows are not chambered.
