"Viper" throttle body for 3.7L

I've been doing some research for a buddy with the 3.8L JK, and I've seen alot of people adding, what they call a Viper throttle body, which is in fact just the 4.7L throttle body. The opening is 3" compared to our 2.5". Everywhere I looked the 3.7L and the 3.8L throttle bodies were grouped together, so I sent an email to MoparSuperCenter asking if they could find out if the 2 throttle bodies were similar with the same bolt pattern. They confirmed that the bolt pattern between the 3.7L, 3.8L, and "Viper" throttle bodies were all the same and that it would bolt up and plug in with no connector splicing.

I'd really like to see this swap on a 3.7L WK, and I would happily be the first guinea pig, I just dont have the funds, I will however start stashing money away, and looking through junkyards for one.

Through MoparSuperCenter the part# is 53032837AB cost $147.06

I think the 05-06 weren't drive by wire so be careful not to use an 05-06 one

you are correct, the drive by wire TB is a mid 2007 change, the part number and price are for the drive by wire TB

If it wasn't so cold out or I had a garage. I would try it. Keep thinking of getting a fastman for my 3.7 this is cheaper and if it has the same effect.

Though this will require an aftermarket pipe for the air box wont it.

The JK guys are using a 3-3 coupler, but they dont have the resonator box like we do. Im going to say a full aftermarket intake, like Injen, will probably be required, unless the 3-3 coupler will fit over the outlet of the resonator box. Ive read that a few JK guys with stock intakes were getting DTC codes, while the guys with aftermarket intakes were not.

Initial road test is positive, smoother, quicker throttle response. Its comic con time here in San Diego so highway testing isn't going to happen this week.

Nice, looks like a simple and effective upgrade! I have been told that the 3.7 is simply a 4.7 with 2 less cylinders, so I,m not surprised that parts between them are interchangeable.

How much larger, if at all, is the throttle body compared to the intake manifold?

And also, I've seen The Fastman selling these TB's taper bored for $265. Might be worth it to some.

The 3.7 and 4.7 intake manifold opening are both 3", the 3.7 throttle body is smaller.

Did you need an adapter to fit your intake?
