I've got about 9,000 miles on my 2008 with about 1/2 of that (couldn't find any near I-5 up and down Cali.) running on anything from B50 to B99 depending on the weather. My mileage is a little better with B50 than straight dino juice or B100 and the exhaust actually smells good.

Check out some of the facts from my supplier at:

NDSU, what part of Oregon are you in?
If in Portland, where are you purchasing your BD?

I then threaded a 1500kw water heater element I wired to an appliance cord and plug (14 gauge) into the coupling.

The column comes with water channels in the head and that keeps the head temp at 65C, methanol's boiling point. When the head temp starts to rise I turn on the hose and water moves through the head to the condensing column. I usually get back 3 gallons of methanol at 97-99% purity for every 15 gallons of raw glycerine. I've processed 2 batches of BD with the recovered methanol and both have passed the 3/27 test.

One thing to note, it takes about 12 hours to get back 3 gallons. It's a long process!
Very cool. I’m going to have to look into this. Seem it will same a lot of money on the amount of methanol you’re getting back.

You should have fueled up Medford Oregon and brought some with you to burn in Cali. Hays Oil right off HYW 99 (in Medford) sells BioDiesel. Ask for Steve Hays, hes the owner and tell him Ross sent you. Hes a great friend of mine and will treat you right.

I don’t know where in Oregon you are, but theres a place in Eugene that sells it as well. I can’t remember where it is, but I think its right on I-5. I haven’t been up there in awhile so things may have changed. I filled my RAM up here and refueled again in Medford (my truck has an aux tank of 115g). That tanks makes it so nice since I don’t have to refuel for like 2,500+ miles.

I live in Hillsboro and get my biodiesel through Star Oilco at their Tigard location just off 217. They have a deal with SeQuential biofuels that allows you to get an individual account so you can actually pump your own fuel and not have to tell every gas jockey that yes, you really did want to stop at the diesel pump.

A list of their locations is at:

I have been running bio in our 07 CRD since it was new. When i got it home I ran it on B20 for two tanks with no problems then took the plunge and have been filling it up on my home brew B100. The truck now has almost 11k miles. The only problem weve run into is a lack of throttle response recently. Almost feels like the turbo is not spooling early like it did before. Has anyone else ran into this issue?

I use to live in Medford, and use to fight with the gas jockeys all the time. You CAN pump diesel fuel your self at any pump in the state of Oregon. Unleaded you can't. The reason why is, diesel fuel isn’t flammable. Most people who’ve been pumping gas for awhile know this and normally won’t bother you.

I was traveling up I-5 and stopped at the Flying J in Wilsonville (I think?) where I proceeded to pull the truck up, jump out, slide my card at the pump and start fueling. This guy who was a 100% ******* came over and read me a new one about not being able to pump my own fuel in the state and this and that, than proceeded to take the nozzle out of my truck and shut the pump off. It was nearly full, so I didn’t care.

I got his name and marched right into the manager’s office and demanded they do some thing about the guy and how I was treated. I don’t know what they did to him, but I got a free tank of diesel out of it.

A mandate for someone to pump your gas is stupid. Says a lot about Oregon.

New Jersey dose the same thing. It keeps their unemployment rate down. Gives the high school kids some thing to do. When I was in school a friend of mine was working for ARCO making $12 an hour. Good money for a HS student.
