Tube door or half door?

So my friend was talking about fabing some tube doors for a wj. It got me thinking if I sohould get him to make me some tube doors or should I got to a junk yard get some doors and cut them down in half? What are your thoughts on this
By the way this would be for a wk

In order to take the doors off you will have to cut the wires going from the door to the body and make some quick disconnects. I did it on a Cherokee and wouldn't care to do it aging. The wk will probably have more wires then the xj too. My vote is tube doors, half doors are gona take alot of work to make look good. If you do pick up a set sale me the plastic inside, all my door hand housings are completely destroyed now.

On second thought buy doors and make full metal panels for the insides to eliminate this horrible weak door handle problem that is plaguing so many of us!

I think the tube doors would look sick. I have also seen a set of sick half doors where the handle, and all the controls were still maintained but where on the top of the door as where the window would be. It actually looked like a really nice clean, factory type install. I believe that was on a Cherokee or GC not sure. If you did this it would be the first I ever heard for a WK.

Another thing you would have to take into account is the safety. It would be cool to cruise around town like this but since we have Unibodies this would greatly affect all of the safety mechanism, and the crumple zones in our WK's. Then you would have to relocate the mirrors, as you would have that one cop who would pull you over and give you a ticket. Also if you did get into an accident like this I can see this being used as leverage by an insurance company to not accept your claim.

But ****, I'd do it.
