Transmission Recall - anyone had theirs in to the dealer for it?
There are numerous transmission problem (stalling, clunking, thuds, shuddering, shifting to neutral) on here and Fiat (sorry I mean Chrysler ) just issued a recall on these WKs for transmissions inadvertantly shifting into netural and stalling issues (this issue actually happens with mine on a somewhat frequent basis).
I contacted the dealer and they haven't had any WKs in yet for this recall, but has anyone gotten anything in the mail on this?
Completely unrelated. The recall's for the transfer case.
If you've having stalling, clunking, shuddering, and missed shifts, that's a whole other kettle of fish. Have you checked your fluid levels? What's the service history?
I was referring to the subject of the majority of the transmission related threads posted on here - I am referring to something else - I was asking if anyone had gotten any info on the transmission going into neutral recall.
My (the wife's) 2005 WK goes into neutral shortly after startup. If you don't let it warm up, you can't drive away. It's been to the dealer for routine maintenance and is not related to fluids/linkage/shifter components.
I'm waiting for my mailing the dealer confirmed the recall will "start" in June.
"Chrysler is recalling about 469,000 SUVs worldwide to update software after some vehicles' circuit boards were found to be transmitting signals that trigger inadvertent gear shifts to neutral, the No. 3 U.S. automaker said Saturday.
Included are 2006- to 2010-model-year Jeep Commanders and 2005 to 2010 Jeep Grand Cherokees, of which about 295,000 are in the United States..."
I'm taking mine in Friday and leaving I until its fixed. Not sure if it has anything to do with the recall but while driving 65mph my jeep downshifted and then went into neutral almost causing a huge accident
Was there a transfer case related recall on these at some point in time?
Yes. The reports that YOU linked earlier in this thread are referring to a recall that is related to the T-CASE shifting into neutral, NOT the tranny. I suspect that your wife's vehicle is experiencing something else. There is a common condition where when you first shift into gear it won't go. The cause is the tranny fluid draining out of the torque converter down to the pan because of a bad check valve. It's possible that this is what you are experiencing.
Got recall notice today , says they are working on software updates and its not ready at this time. Please do not contact dealer for service until you receive "follow up recall notice" - And Please be sure to use the parking brake .. I have a 2005 Laredo 4.7 QT II. This affects 05-10 WK/XK QDII or QTII only. I'm not very worried about this recall, I don't leave it running abandoned very often.
