Transmission problems. HELP!

So I have been having the same problem a few people have, where my display lights up all of the gears and will hardly go forwards. It will happen a few times a week but never lasts. If I push + or - on the shifter it goes back to normal.

I went to a local auto shop today. It threw 2 codes; Transmission and Incorrect Gear Ratio.

I understand the transmission code - apparently my transmission is going bad.

What I don't understand is what the incorrect gear ratio code is? Anyone able to help me on this?

Thanks!

The ratio of the transmission's input RPM to the output RPM does not match the current gear ratio.
Usually an input or output sensor, you may also need to have the trans controller reflashed or relearn.

Without getting the jeep rescanned, the only one of the two codes he can remember is P0700, which he doesn't think will help too much. I can't get it in there today or tomorrow, but maybe Thursday.

P0700 only tells you that the code is in the TCM.

From my experience the code reader at the autoparts CANNOT get codes from the TCM. Only the PCM.

Others will correct me if i am wrong but it may require a dealer scan to get the tru TCM codes.

Well I remember there was another code, but he can't remember it. I will try to find time to go by there today.

So the only other code he could pull off it it was U0404, "Implausible Data Received from ESM". I know this is kind of generic too. Any ideas?

Nope, not too long after this I got hit by someone and I've been struggling with their insurance company every since. Trying to drive it as little as possible so haven't had time to have it looked at.
