"trail rated 4x4"

i just bought a 2005 grand cherokee limited....i love it so far....there's one thing that confuses me about it... it has the "trail rated 4x4" tag on the side, and yet supposedly it's only a 4x2.

is this thing any good for offroading? what does that whole "trail rated" crap mean anyways?...

i have a TJ on 33's, so if the cherokee remains the DD as I had originally planned, it's no big deal....just curious

Well if its a 4X2, I'd peel the "Trail Rated" badge and say..put a.."Pre-Runner" badge in its place.

well, the dealer said it was 4x2....it doesn't have any stickers anywhere that say 4x4, and i see no way to shift it into 4x4 on the inside unless i'm just blind or confused....this is my first cherokee so i'm admittedly a bit lost here

i was sure it wasn't 4x4...but i was thrown off by the "trail rated 4x4" logo thing on the side....if it were 4x4, i would have some way to shift it into 4x4, and i don't see anything of that sort inside, nor hubs on the wheels....i'm not COMPLETELY dumb to this stuff, but I am new to the cherokee world.

question i guess is, what is the "trail rated" all about anyways?...or is it just an emblem the previous owner or dealer put on?
