For gods sake......don't take it to a dealership to get it wired.

Not sure what they would charge because I installed the hitch and wiring in my 98 myself (very easy on the older models) and my 07 came with the tow package. It is definitely worth having a hitch though. I've used it many times, for moving big projects with rented trailers, towing boats etc. You can use an aftermarket hitch (like a Draw Tite or Curt) but I'd get the OE wiring. Less troubles that way....

OE: http://www.justforjeeps.com/hirewihatrto3.html

Just make sure you get the correct year for your Jeep.

TIA
I'd definitely go with a dealer/MOPAR Class III hitch. It's not that expensive and won't rust away like the aftermarket one's always do. I installed mine myself. It comes with a template to cut the plastic rear bumper. Easy to do with a dremel. Most time consuming part is just removing the bumper, just a bunch of plastic push snaps. Goodluck!

My 06 commander came with the towing package, trans cooler, tow-haul, etc. but no hitch and no trailer wiring harness. If you bought the jeep w/o the hitch I highly doubt it has the towing wiring harness.

That being said I purchased a 7 pin round chrysler OEM trailer harness on ebay from a dealer (super easy to install). The 7 pin has more options than the flat and if you want eletric trailer brakes I recommend the 7 pin round. Start at the rear of the vehicle, plug into rear drivers taillight and just start routing the wire up to the front of the jeep. No splicing, soldering, etc. just plug and play! All you have to do is zip tie it out of the way and make sure you don't hit the exhaust or moving parts. Instructions that are pretty self explainatory. Goodluck!

You want a 7 way.

4 flat does not support trailer brakes/brake controller.

If it's not included in the wiring package, then you'll want to run a power wire for a brake controller from under the pedals back to the plug.

The factory harness on my 07 WK came with both the 7 round and 4 flat.
If you have to choose between get the 7 and then you can tow a trailer that has electric brakes . If you have to tow one that has no brakes or surge (hydraulic) brakes you can use a 7 to 4 adaptor.

I installed a Curt hitch on my 08 WK Laredo. It was simple and looks custom for one that is below the bumper. The custom wiring package only took 10 minutes to install.

thanks guys I appreciate all the help... I'll just buy an eBay one I'm sure it'll work as long as the rust doesn't take away from the reliability from the hitch but if I have any other questions I'll make sure to get a hold of you guys!
