Tow hitch, Mopar or Draw-Tite (or other)

Hi all,

My WK did not come with a tow hitch. I need to install a tow hitch and wiring for a 7 pin connector so I can tow my RV. I will also be doing an install for my brake controller. Just wondering on folks thoughts of the Mopar vs aftermarket hitch? Both bolt onto the rear bumper frame. The Mopar is higher and requires cutting the bumper cover and adding trim. The aftermarkets seem to just drop it lower but mount the same.

Any thoughts or suggestions before I dive in would be appreciated. I will try and take pics and do a write up of the whole process as well.

Mopar's my stock recommendation if you go off-road at all. The aftermarket hitches slaughter the departure angle and some of them affect the running clearance too.

Mopar hitch. Anything else is going to look silly hanging below the bumper.

Yeah you're gonna want that hitch from Mopar, I think it comes as a kit too, with the new bumper to make it fit... $$$$

As I understand, you buy a trim kit and you cut the stock bumper. Thanks!

I'm just in the process of installing a mopar hitch on my UK spec Wk...

Despite being real careful and using the correct tool, So far I've managed to break the m6 bolt on the passenger side, and most of my plastic clips,

I've ordered new fixings, and the UK price is frankly a complete p*ss take...

10 clips at 4+ each
2 side pieces at 15each
Other plastic clips add up to another 30 or so

So not much change from 100 just for a few bits of plastic

In addition to this, once I fit my lift kit, I'll need another hitch with more drop, so that'll be another load of

Should look good though

Took me 6 hours to remove the bumper, trim it, and install the hitch and bezel. Guide lines where to cut it are already etched on your bumper. Easy peasy. I didn't do the harness yet tho. I got it from:
