tow/haul Mode Question

So, having a bit of a family debate about what exactly the tow/haul feature does on my 2005 Grand Cherokee 4.7. I'm aware that it locks out overdrive, and seems to raise the shift points a tad. Does it also affect the actual engine in any way? Does it modify engine timing, fuel/air charge, etc? In other words, does it affect fuel economy and engine power?

From what I have noticed while towing and using the the Tow/Haul is that it does lock out 5th gear and yes it seems to raise the shift points a little. It will also down shift to use engine braking to keep your speed in check if it senses you are picking up too much speed while not on the gas or braking. That's all I seem to notice it doing. I don't believe it does anything to the engine programming.

Edit: I read that on the Hemi engine it locks out MDS. It will also lower you mileage since it locks out the 2nd overdrive and raises the shift points.
