Tire/wheel advice with OME lift

Ok..so I placed the order for an OME HD lift from Kolak for my 2008 WK 5.7l Hemi. I bought it couple of weeks before with 92K miles..one owner, fully dealer maintained.

It came with 245/60/R18 on it. So I am not sure what my options are if I want to go bigger with the lift. Most seems to have 265/70/r17 with wheel spacers...that's the range I am looking at but how will it change for me since I have 18 inch wheels.

1) can I just get 17 inch rims/wheels and tires to go with it ? What other components will be affected if I change the rims size as well? This also will be the more expensive option because I have to get wheels too..right?

2) if I keep my 18 inch wheel, what would be my options on the tire size ? This sounds like the cheaper option since I would be buying tires only. ..right? I see less options for all terrain tires for 18 inch wheels.

Any recommendations or advice will be affected. This will be my DD with moderate level off-road use few times a year (no rock crawling).

Thanks.

265/65r18 tires will give you the same overall diameter as 265/70r17, roughly 31.6 inches.

You're right about tires for the 18" wheels. There are less options, and they're often more expensive.

If you really like your 18" wheels, there are AT tired in the 265/65r18 size. If you don't mind changing, it may not be that much more expensive to get some 17" wheels so you have more options.

Also, if you got 17" wheels with less back spacing, you wouldn't have to buy spacers.

Thanks!
So if I go to 17 inch wheels and tires, will it affect anything in the vehicle since the stock is 18 inch ?

No it won't effect anything. Stock WK wheels are all 17" so I'd say the previous owner swapped into 18's at some point.

Just looked this up on WKJeeps.com - 08 Overland had 18's standard; Limited was an option. Anyway, learn something new every day - I didn't know any WK came with 18's.

Looks like it, yes. So any possible issues if I go to 17 inch wheels? The service manual seems to have this wording "drive train is optimized to run with stock wheels", without being more specific!

No - 17" wheels won't effect anything. The outside diameter of the tire will but not the wheel size.

I am eyeing a set of 5 Rubicon 10th anniversary tires&wheels (no TPMS) available locally for about $1000 (less than 5000 miles). The new ones everywhere are priced at $1500 and up...so this looked fair. What do you guys think on the price?

These are 265/70/17 & 17/7.5 wheels. From others setup on similar tire size, looks like I would need a spacer. Other than the spacer, anything else I have to worry about for this particular tire/wheel set with my OME HD lift ?

If you are concerned about that, you should not have changed the suspension out. 17 or 18 inch factory wheels both run tires that are the same OD, that is the important part, adding taller/wider tires is where everything gets thrown off, not including the modifications to the stock suspension to clear them.

i think the tire options have been stated- 275/65 would be a 32x10.5, 265/65 would be 31.5x10.5... these are all for 18s.

i run 18s with the factory bridgestone dueler hts that came on a JK Sahara. the tires arent overly expensive and i think the amount of room the 18s give in relation to the caliper is nice- my JK moabs hugged the caliper, made me feel uncomfortabel running them (nothing against those running them because i know ALOT of you do). but there are a decent amount of tire option for the 18s, i would check out the bfg rugged terrain or rugged trail. ill be sticking with my 18s on my WK, as they just fit the jeep.
