Throaty exhuast?

I just picked up a 06 XK and noticed inside and out the exhuast sounds kinda throaty i thought hmm has to be a aftermarket muffler... Nope look there is the chrysler stamp on that behemoth of a muffler (huge *** thing) are these things that throaty stock? its 4.7

Even Motor Trend commented on the 4.7 sound in a road test.

My 4.7 sounds throaty...but that's because it has an 18" glasspack on it.
