Swirl motor and turbo inlet mod ... where to fit Racor or Provent

Hi iam a new member and have just had my swirl motor and modified turbo inlet pipe fitted to my CRD under warranty by local dealer (what a rubbish design ).I am now thinking of fitting either a Racor or Provent CCV filter ,the problem i have is where to mount the CCV filter , on euro GC s we have the brake servo in the place where you left hand drive guys mount yours. It would mean mounting the CCV filter on the opposite side , could anyone tell me if the length of tubing (approx 36 inches) from the cylinder head outlet to CCV and back to turbo inlet would be too long and oil would just collect in these tubes and not in the filter ?.
Does anyone know where i can buy a Racor or Provent in the UK ?.

Welcome to the wonderful CRD world! Merlin would probably be the best person to comment on this and he is over in your neck of the woods. It is preferable to have the shortest amount of hose possible mainly due to freezing of the lines more than anything else....assuming the temps in your area get down low enough to cause concerns. This is a good question on where to mount it and it seems I recall there was a post about this a while back so you might be able to turn something up in a search.

Hi
I don't know where to mount one as I do think it's a long way to mount it on the other side. Possible make a bracket for the strut mount? E-bay I guess for the provent sorry can't help much but would love to have a go.

I fitted a Provent to my CRD during the summer, at first I fitted a cheap oil catch can, you can see pictures if you search for a Thread "Provent install pics on 07 CRD" it's post 63, unfortunately it was not very successful, didn't catch as much oil as expected.
I then fitted the Provent and am very happy with the results, haven't got any pictures on the camera, it's to cold, damp and dark outside at the moment, if you want I'll take a few shots tomorrow and post them up, that way you'll see the fitting and pipe run on a right hand drive (UK) Jeep.

As to where to buy in the UK, I couldn't really find anyone online, but by word of mouth I found a supplier, spoke to a guy call Mathew ( very, very helpful guy)

Mathew
Power Utilities Group
Telephone +44 (0)1922 720561
Facsimile +44 (0)1922 720461
Visit us at our new website: Filterserve

cost was £75.00 Plus carriage, Plus vat. Total around the £100 if I remember correctly

Thanks for the info this forum is invaluable. If it was'nt for this forum i would not have looked under my engine cover to find oil leaking into the swirl motor ,and had it fixed on warranty saving me £600 .This modified turbo intake should be an official jeep recall.Anyway back to CCV filters it looks to me that i will need to fit a small catch can next to the brake servo and drain it every 2000 miles or so.A Racor or Provent will be too large.

Ianrmz250, My advice would be not to go down the catch can route, to be brutally honest it just ended up being an expensive mistake. Fit a Provent, it's a million time better.

I fitted the Provent on the passenger side bulkhead and run two Silicon pipes across the engine below the engine cover, at first I was worried about the pipes getting to hot or chaffing, but approx 6 months and about 7000 miles later I've had no issues.
Just had the Jeep serviced last week, the Technician who serviced the Jeep made a point to come out to see me to talk about the Provent, he was impressed and made the point of telling me it's made a big difference to how clean the intake was....
I'll post up a few pictures tomorrow.

if it helps, here's the part number and name

3931070550 MANN HUMMEL PROVENT 200 ASSEMBLY
