I believe it is on the Left Side of the Transmission - Near the Bell Shape - As you are looking towards the front of the vehicle.

I think it's in the same place as the 3.7L. The 3.7L's is on the driver's side bottom. Find the front driveshaft, follow it up to the differential, look above it and boom you have you're starter. Basically think "where could they put this so it's inaccessible from any angle" and that's where it'll be.

If it's not in the same place then just disregard this.

Passenger side, hidden by the exhaust. Hard to get to, really hard to remove. I am still trying to figure the removal out myself.

Drivers side for a 4.7 WK, it's hard to see but it's there. Need a flash light little easier to see from underneth. i haven't changed one yet, but had mine not want to work (bendix would stick, hit key and it just click would have to tap with something to get it to work). i looked getting a need one but it started working all the time so never had to change it, then lost the engine in it so i traded it in for a '12 JKU.
