SlickDevil's Build Thread

Ok so to start off i have always had sports cars and never had a suv although i loved the way the jeep looked at the dealer and needed the extra space. So new to this stuff.

Sounds good! Do you plan on sticking with the stock rims? And 59k miles is actually really low. I have a 2005 limited but with the Hemi and i have 114k miles.

Not at all. I have 110,000 miles on mine and it runs like a champ! Transmission on the other hand has been temperamental. I'd look at getting the trans fluid flushed and changed if there is no record of it being done.

A full drivetrain fluid change should actually be done anyway. Engine, trans, t-case, axles.

59K on the ticker is outstanding for an '05.

The 4.7 (first gen) is a good one and yours is young.

I'd plan on servicing both diffs, tcase, tranny and tranny filters.

If you have airtools, a good compressor, jacks/stands, and a good 1/2" breaker bar - do the lift install yourself.

Good luck - welcome to the WK!

I'd also say do the work yourself and put that $300 towards your tires, check craigslist, you might be able to find some wrangler MOABS for not to much more than that. I did my RC and it took me about 6 hours but that included messing around and a trip to autozone as well. It wasn't difficult just time consuming. I also recommend using a break free lubricant like pb blaster on all the bolts your going to need to remove about 2-3 days before hand and give them a squirt each day. It makes a huge difference when breaking them free. I'm looking forward to seeing the outcome whichever route you take, it'll look great!

They can fit bigger tires. You should look on Craigslist for "rubicon wheels" or something similar. I was able to get 5 wheels and tires (255/75/15 BFG Mud Terrains with 90% tread left) from Craigslist for $800 off of a Rubicon Wrangler, and I've read guys on this forum getting them cheaper than that! I didn't like the idea of stuffing big tires onto the stock WK rims, though plenty of guys do it.

Would these be the right rims? And so they bolt right on with ease?
