Some notes: Calipers come off with two simple bolts, then just had to pry a little to remove the caliper from the rotor. Keep the back pad on so you can use it and a c-clamp to push the piston back in. This will allow you to get the new pads over the rotor. I took the master cylinder cap off so the back pressure is relieved and no need to bleed the brakes. The rotor has an o-ring that needs to be removed then its bang away until the rotor works loose. Took me a while but finally broke them free.

I finally have time to do my pinch welds and buy some new tires. I've decided to go with 285/70r17s on my factory wheels. Either Nitto Terra Grapplers or Goodyear Wrangler Duratecs at an extra hundo each. Being able to add winter spikes is a cool feature since I'll be driving in the mountains during hunting season. Not sure if it would be easier just to add chains if needed (and stay away from a lot of flex I'll hit the rear fender later.

Do you tow regularly with your rig? I'm considering 285s myself and I'm wondering how the jeep drivetrain will handle the strain of a 33 and a trailer/rig?

I'm debating either doing 285s or dropping it down an inch and going tow rig for when I get a trail rig.

I do tow a lot and sometime max out my ratings, but with the Hemi I'm not too concerned with the drivetrain. I'll cross my fingers and update as soon as I tow with the 285s on. My plan is to drive the WK (with 285s) and tow my CJ-5 to the Easter Jeep Safari at Moab next year. I do plan on picking up an extra set of cheap 17" wheels to throw my current 245s on as a long distance road trip/towing set.

After reading through a ton of posts debaing tire size issue and the HD OME suspension I'm confident in getting the 285s instead of 265s. And, heck, if they are too big, I'll just have to increase my suspension to match . But, honestly, I'd rather do that then spend the same kind of money on a set of 265s and then regret them.

When I replaced my front rotors I didn't notice little o-ring... I banged, hit, cussed the rotor... Once I realized there was an o-ring and removed them, and the rotors came off with out too much fuss...

Note to sell, do more research before breaking out the Big F'in Hammer...

I'll sneak'em in here. Sorry Omelet, I know this is the WK forum

I just replaced the carb with a Holley rebuild. Engine puuurrrs... for now. It's got the AMC 304 V8 and 3-speed tranny. Some serious rust issues going on but not too worried about the body at this point...

I'll hopefully start a 're-build' when I really get going.

What did you do with the parking brake shoes while you removed the rear brake rotors?

I didn't have to do anything with the parking brake. It wasn't an issue and may just be a slight difference in the model years. Sorry I can't help you.

FINALLY had time to get some new (not so new) tires. Found a used set of Nitto Terra Grapplers (285/70r17) for sale at local Big O' at too good of a price. Let's me see how I like the size and fit without spending a grand. The pinch weld mod is working perfectly from lock to lock. I haven't tested the flex yet, but I suspect it won't be too positive with only the HD OME. NO rear fender lip mod yet either. I'll be in the mountains this weekend elk hunting so maybe I can test it out a bit while there. Here are some pics and I found another stock Jeep for camparo. I'm loving it!

Before (with HD OME and stock 245s).

After (with HD OME and 285s).

Wow looks really good! I've never been a big fan of 285s with just the OME HD but this has definitely changed my mind! I think I like it better than 265s now!
