Rudy's Build Thread

In June of 2011 i bought my first Jeep after totaling my Tacoma when I sank it in a rock quarry while I was wheeling in it.

I'm building this to do some moderate wheeling and to be able to see things most people don't get to. The Chicagoland area doesn't provide a bevy of off-road options, so we'll be taking the WK to Colorado and Utah for an annual or semi-annual trip, our first one is in August of this year. So here goes....

Very clean looking Jeep! What are the specs on it and what are your plans for it?

Sorry. Haha. I'm trying to do it from my phone and it's not going so well. I'll get back to it later.

Ok now that I have some pics on my laptop...

Per my first post, I got my WK in June of 2011.

The first mod I did was wheels. I got a set of Pro Comp 1089's (4.5 bckspc) last summer

Road around on the new wheels for a bit, then added a Flow Master Super 40 muffler. I dont have a video of it, but it sounds great with the Hemi.

After the exhaust I saved some cash for an OME HD setup

I did the pinch weld before I got the lift on. This was kind of a fun mod for me to do cause it was really the first thing I was able to completely do on my own. I went back in a few weeks later and flattened it a little more and hit it with some rustoleum.

After the PW flattened, I dropped it off at a local shop (Naperville Automotive Solutions). He does a lot of custom engine and suspension work, but this was his first Jeep. I planned on doing this myself and was glad I didn't because some bolts had to be cut due to some rust.

Before lift w/ stock tires & after OME HD with 265/70 Fierce Attitude M/T's

I recently ordered a set of shackle mounts from eBay, they seem really well made from the model I saw. With Aspen Creek shutting down, this could provide a nice option instead of the $180 4XGUARD mounts. Ill update this when I get them in.

Future plans are:
Mod SL using what I can from the existing OME HD (All you 6" lift guys have me jealous already)
Shackle Mounts (ordered)
Crawl LED work lights. Got these for Christmas, but not sure where I want to put them
ASFIR skids
RRO Rock Sliders
Black Pro Comp 52 series wheels (the salt in the winter makes my current wheels too high maintanance

Going with a black and blue theme with: Black wheels (see above), Plasti-Dip grille(black), black ORT stripes & Plasti-Dip emblems (Black)

Sounds like a sweet plan. I'm just trying to get to the modified ome lift stage lol.

I just don't have the budget for the superlift any time soon so I think I wanna go a modified ome with ome coils and 5100s for the front but idk what to do about the back to level it for the extra height in the front. I like the leveled look but want about 3.5-3.75" of lift (just to keep below the 23" hub to fender)

Yea I'm not totally committed to the SL yet. I'm gonna sit on what I have for a while and see what else comes out for the WK.
