It was temporary and held down by three ratchet straps for about a day or two.

The spare sits in the my garage till I take a trip. Might as well save the weight.

I think Yakima makes a tire holder for the racks that works with the rola

I would be interested in seeing more of this, I rock the spare up top all the time with the ratchet straps.

On another point, look out for the screws that hold the front plastic on to get rusty in about 6 months. Mine are almost totally rusted, so I will need to get more. Also the "Rola" logo is beginning to wash away, so Im going to try to scrub it completely off.

I looked into those Yakima mounts and without modifications they won't fit. The Yakima large bars are only 1" in diameter while the rola large bars are 1.5, so without making a custom mounting solution for the bars being larger both top and bottom it won't fit.

I made my own mount for the spare tire. Total cost was about $25 to fab. I will take some pictures tomorrow of what I made. I have had my spare up there for about 6 months now with not a single issue.
