RnR Engine Strut Brace?

Regarding the brace in the engine compartment that arches between the tops of the suspension struts, is this a big deal to remove?

My reason for doing this is just to paint it, for the sake of more Bling in the engine compartment, so I don't want to mess anything up by doing it. In particular, I don't want to trigger an alignment issue, when all I'm trying to do is rattle can something prominent.
